Salton Sea Color-Blocked Painting

Salton Sea Color-Blocked Painting
The Salton Sea is a rare lake located in the Southern California desert. What was once a vacation destination in the early 20th century is now too polluted for human or aquatic life. Despite the uninhabitable waters, the the aesthetic beauty of the lake still remains, and is a fascinating thing to come across on my road trip through the desert in April 2024.
This painting is a study of the colors of the Salton Sea. Using an abstract, color-blocking technique, this painting emphasizes the lake’s green-blue waters against the warm desert landscape.
